Frequently Asked Questions
I offer a 15-minute free telephonic consultation for you to explore whether we are the right fit for each other. You are welcome to ask me any questions in that time.
Here are some tips to find the right therapist for you:
Reflect on your personal preferences: Consider your preferences regarding the therapist’s age, gender, cultural background, and communication style. Some people feel more comfortable working with a therapist of a specific gender or cultural background, while others prioritize qualities such as empathy, directness, or a gentle approach. Reflect on what would make you feel the most at ease and supported during therapy.
Research therapist profiles: Look up therapist profiles on online directories or their professional websites. Pay attention to their areas of expertise, experience, and the issues they commonly work with. Reading about their background and approach can help you assess if they align with your needs and preferences.
Assess the therapeutic relationship: Keep in mind that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. After starting therapy with a particular therapist, pay attention to how you feel during sessions. Do you feel heard, understood, and supported? Do you feel a sense of trust and rapport with the therapist? Trust your instincts and evaluate whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit for you.
Ask questions: During an initial consultation or during the first few sessions, don’t hesitate to ask questions to better understand the therapist’s approach and determine if it aligns with your needs. Inquire about their experience with your specific concerns, how they typically work with clients, and their expectations for therapy.
